Explore the fantastic lives of beetles, millipedes, tarantulas, walking sticks, whip scorpions and more! We’ll bring our hands-on Insect Discovery Lab to your class or next event. Our presenters will introduce your group to the extraordinarily diverse world of insects and other arthropods and teach you about their key role in the web of life. Scientific observation, insect identification, and the natural history of bugs’ lives are just some of the areas we focus on. Click here to learn more about insects!

We also do educational outreach in the form of tabling events with our Insect Discovery Lab, which will surely add life to your event, science fair, or party! Two energetic educators will host the tables, engage and help children and adults to hold the insects, and to tell visitors the stories of the incredible lives of these amazing creatures.

• Learn how to identify insects and their arthropod relatives
• Touch amazing arthropod ambassadors
• See how insects defend themselves
• Discover their incredible diversity

Presentation Details
Our presenters are knowledgeable, informative and engaging. Each presentation includes hands-on experience with live animals and observation time with live and preserved materials for everyone. Group or class should not exceed 25 people.­

You will receive pre and post visit materials including fact, activity and resource sheets, plus our conservation action guides.

Program Length
Preschool programs are about 30 minutes and School Age groups are 50 minutes with live insects and other arthropods.

Program Fees
Preschool programs are $125.00 per presentation and $100 for additional presentations.
School age and libraries are $175.00 for the first presentation and $150.00 for additional presentations at the same location and same day.
Birthday parties are $250.00 per presentation. Fees for presenting at event depend on the location, number of attendees, nature and length of event.

Travel fees will be applied for sites outside of San Francisco. Fees range from $30 for 15-20 miles to $80 for 59-65 miles. Contact us today to discuss your site and book the Lab.
